At MKM all of our branches have close relationships with their local community, and we work particularly closely with many organisations in Hull, our home city.

One partnership with Hull Training and Adult Education, the training division of Hull City Council is particularly close to our hearts.

For many years we have supported the training scheme by providing the council and learners with the help and support of experienced supervisors from our industry.

With the help of knowledgeable and qualified mentors, apprentices on training programmes gain valuable insights into real working life on a day to day basis.

We’re proud that our very own John Curtis from MKM Hull has been announced as the 2015 Apprentice Supervisor of the Year.

It’s a special accolade for John, who has been part of the MKM Hull team as Site Manager of our Stoneferry Road branch since day 1, over 20 years ago. He spends professional and personal time helping develop the students and supporting them in reaching their goal.

Keith Eames, Branch Director of MKM Hull said:

“Not only are we proud to support Hull Training and Adult Education in a professional and corporate capacity, but we are very proud John this is a key personal milestone and acknowledgement for his on-going hard work and dedication. He is a real asset to our business.”

Julie Pomone, the Manager at Hull Training and Adult Education presented John with his award recently:

“Congratulations and thank you to John and MKM Building Supplies for their long term support of our courses. We’re always in need of organisations to help mentor students and provide them with a taste of the real world. MKM Building Supplies certainly helps provide a very realistic and down to earth outlook.”

John himself is delighted with the award:

“Thanks to Julie and the team for the recognition, I really enjoy being involved with the courses and getting to know each of the students. I look forward to the next instalment for this year.”
