Apprentice Insight – Interview with our Kitchen Sales Apprentice, Martine

Our Kitchen Sales Apprentice, Martine Frusher, has been working with the team at our King’s Lynn branch for almost a year as she completes her Trade Business Services qualification. We found out why she chose MKM and how we’re helping her achieve her goals to carry on working with us when she finishes her apprenticeship in November!

Q: Why did you decide to look for an apprenticeship?
A: I decided to look for an apprenticeship because I wanted to have a proper job where I could earn my own money, have my own independence and start my career path.

Q: What’s your favourite thing about your apprenticeship so far?
A: My favourite thing is spending time talking to customers to find out their likes and dislikes so I can help design and supply their dream kitchen.

Q: Would you recommend applying for an apprenticeship to others?
A: Yes, because you can learn while you earn and find out if you are going to like the job you are going to be doing.

Q: What kind of tasks do you take on as an apprentice? Do you have favourite jobs / tasks?
A: I talk to customers, work on design plans, create quotes and order kitchens.

Q: What’s the main advantage of an apprenticeship?
A: The main advantage of the apprenticeship is that I can gain the knowledge I need to work in the kitchen department. It also teaches me customer service skills and how to deal with different situations.

So there you have it! A glimpse into the life of just one of our hard-working apprentices. We’re celebrating National Apprenticeship Week right up until 10th March, so check out our Facebook and Twitter pages to find out how you can get involved.
