Apprentice Insight – Interview with our Sales Admin Apprentice, Lucy

With National Apprenticeship Week happening 6th-10th March 2017, we thought it was the perfect time to celebrate the hard work of our own apprentices! Our Sales Admin Apprentice, Lucy Gilmartin, has been working with us since November 2016 for a 14-month apprenticeship as she works towards her Business Admin 2 qualification. We caught up with her to find out more about her role with us…

Q: Why did you decide to look for an apprenticeship?
A: I decided to look for an apprenticeship because it gives me the opportunity to earn money and receive training and a qualification at the same time.

Q: What do you hope to do at the end of your apprenticeship?
A: Upon completion of my apprenticeship I hope to go full-time and resume my employment at MKM leisure division.

I love being part of something larger that makes a difference

Q: Are you specialising in one element of the trade or working with a variety of experts?
A: I work with a variety of experts who specialise in different areas within MKM leisure division.

Q: What’s your favourite thing about your apprenticeship so far?
A: My favourite thing about working for MKM is the people and nature of the business. I love the work environment and developing relationships with customers. I love being a part of something larger that makes a difference.

Q: Would you recommend applying for an apprenticeship to others?
A: Yes, I would highly recommend an apprenticeship to anyone. It gives you the chance to earn a living and carry on education but in the workplace instead of a classroom.

Q: What kind of tasks do you take on as an apprentice? Do you have favourite jobs / tasks?
A: The sort of tasks I take on include; customer liaison, dealing with customer enquiries relating to orders and deliveries, ensuring that any issue is followed through to satisfactory conclusion and keeping relevant parties informed. This is just a handful of what I undertake as an apprentice.

Stay tuned throughout National Apprenticeship Week as we share more great insight from our MKM apprentices. Don’t forget to connect with us on Facebook and Twitter to share your own stories with us, too.
