A Hartlepool charity has teamed up with tradespeople and merchants, including MKM Building Supplies, to surprise a young local lad with a pad of his own.
5 year-old Leyton has acute lymphobastic leukaemia, which he has to undergo various treatment for weekly, including chemotherapy and lumbar punctures.
Miles for Men is a charity based in Hartlepool that puts on fun runs to raise funds for cancer charities. They’ve brought together Hartlepool College students and local tradespeople to create ‘Leyton’s Pad’, a shed for Leyton to play in between treatments.
The building materials were supplied by MKM Hartlepool, with students from Hartlepool College taking on the build.
Construction students gave up their free time to plan and build the shed. Richie Griffiths, Director at Miles for Men said “Everyone jumped at the chance to help out and it was fantastic that all these companies dedicated their time and resources. The smile on Leyton’s face when he saw his pad for the first time was wonderful to see.”
