The next generation of builders and bricklayers were on show to demonstrate their skills in an all-day competition hosted by Hull College who are also one of our customers, as we supported their trade fair with a stand, product demonstrations and giveaways with support from our suppliers. The competition was hosted as part of the Yorkshire heat of the Guild of Bricklayers which tests the skills and abilities of entrants and promotes high standards within our industry. A total of 13 colleges and over 30 students took part which ended with a presentation of awards to finalists.
Hull College is the largest provider of construction studies in the region and is amongst the largest in the UK. We provide them with materials for their Construction Centre to help students learn more about building skills and on the day we sponsored the programme and give out t-shirts as well as placing our inspirational banners throughout the area. Paul Adams, Head of School for Construction commented: “Competitions play an important role in giving the opportunity for learners to display the skills they have been taught in the preceding years of college attendance. All the students involved have worked extremely hard to reach this level and all should be deemed winners by their participation in the competition.
