The Great North Run attracted over 57,000 competitors in 2014 and running for his life on a very hot day was Stuart Darling, Yard Foreman at our Berwick branch. Stuart completed the 13.1 mile run in Newcastle in a very respectable 2 hours and 1 minute, raising £850 for Berwick Rugby Club, where he coaches the under 15 team. Other events at the Club have included a chilly Boxing Day dip in the sea at Berwick and the Club President, Elliott Hill, is in line for a beard shave!
Encouraging youngsters to get involved in sport is something that Stuart is passionate about and he commented: “Taking part in the Great North Run was a challenge I really enjoyed. We are raising money at the Club for a new training pitch and this will be a welcome boost towards the £50,000 we are hoping to raise.” A big thank you to everyone at MKM who supported Stuart to complete the race and if you want to get your running shoes on, the Bupa Great North Run 2015 is now open for entries.
