MKM Glasgow is looking a little different these days. Like many buildings and landmarks all over the country, it’s being lit up in purple during Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
A number of landmarks in Glasgow will be illuminated, including the Glasgow Arc Bridge at Finnieston, Kingston Bridge and St Roberts RC Church, alongside local businesses.
The branch are supporting Action 4 Patricia and Paul in particular, who are raising funds to support patients and funding research into improving earlier diagnosis in Scotland. ‘Action 4 Patricia and Paul’ was set up in memory of the mother and brother of David Fitzpatrick, who’s been a customer of the branch since the very beginning. Glasgow have wristbands and merchandise available at the counter in exchange for a donation.
The local Eastwood Juveniles football team, sponsored by MKM, are helping to raise awareness too in purple jerseys.
The survival rate of pancreatic cancer is just 3%, the lowest of all cancers, and the fundraising efforts by the branch will continue through November and onward in the hope that lives will be saved.
To donate, please pop into branch or you can donate via the JustGiving page.
