Derek Telfer, Branch Director at MKM Hexham and his wife Sarah were joined by 16 other Josie’s Dragonfly Trust supporters to climb the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.
They completed the 17km climb to reach the summit in just eight hours (with a cheeky stop at the top for some well deserved celebrations). Derek commented: “We were fortunate to have perfect weather on the day, and could see for miles from the top where we celebrated with a small glass of prosecco; although we were a little premature as it was harder coming down than going up. We feel privileged to support such a deserving charity and are grateful to all our sponsors for their kind donations. It was a fantastic experience and we would recommend that anyone who has the chance to do it takes the opportunity.”
Josie’s Dragonfly Trust aims to brighten the lives of children and young people
with cancer. So far the team have raised enough money to give eighteen terminally ill children a cash gift of £500. The cash gifts are provided to young people when cancer treatment is no longer considered curative. The money is for them to spend as they wish in a way that will enhance their lives.
